I am lucky enough to work from my studio here in Finzean, Aberdeenshire, on a beautiful and traditional sporting estate in the Scottish Highlands. I have a degree in fine art from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee and make large and small colorful paintings in oil and dirty big drawings in charcoal, graphite and chalk. Following a field trip to the U.S.A in 2016 my practice has taken a turn to oil with a "less is more" approach.

Inspiration comes from the daily life of Gamekeepers, and the instinct to 'paint what I know'. Studies are more about perception and observation, experience comes from many hours of practice. I have a special interest in photography, native wildlife, bees, hares and horses in particular. Doric folklore is reflected in some of the titles of some of my work. I have written three plays and published two books and have a very active platform on social media, (which has been a gamechanger to those of us living in a rural location). I use my instagram account as a reference sketchbook, its full of photographs of our work and the ever changing Scottish seasons here in the Highlands.

I am always happy to discuss commissions and collaborations. I am a Trustee of the River Dee and work with three other artists as the Heckleburn Quines.
